BeHere is a virtual lens to bring people from the past into the present – a platform for conveying and reconstructing memories to and for the next generation. History emerges from accumulated and shared personal experiences. This interactive augmented reality project focused on individuals’ snapshots of daily life, selected from the Hong Kong libraries and private collections. The found photographs were used as a reference point for creating micro-narratives enacted by 3D figures. The 3D figures were generated from photogrammetric photographs of living people, shot in a studio, with 70 cameras. 3D models were then constructed from 2D shots. The 3D model data was created with the aid of the augmented reality technology and placed in the real world where visitors could interact with the figures using their mobile devices.
